It doesn’t have to be sad
I prefer to call the occasion when saying goodbye to a loved one, a celebration of life. Yes, it is overwhelmingly upsetting and you will feel a lot of different emotions. But wouldn’t it be fitting to actually look at the person’s life instead of their passing. What were their personalities like? Did they have any specific hobbies or skills? What made them unique?
Making it personal
I recently conducted a service where the loved one who had passed was an avid steam train enthusiast, especially The Flying Scotsman. When his family told me this, I suggested that we add steam engine noises when the curtain was closing. I also added a “whoo whoo” at which some of the people actually joined in with. It was wonderful and a real “send off” for such a lovely man.
How I am
Family, friends and clients would say that I am a fun loving person. This resonated with me so much and it was a perfect name to describe what I do and what you can expect from me.
There never is any obligation when you contact me, I genuinely love chatting with people in general. That maybe because I am Welsh and we are known to chat and have fun!
What I have Done
Oh, the lists are endless but I think that my major achievement was graduating to become a teacher later in my adult life. From then on I have taught children aged 3-19 who have additional needs. It is a very rewarding job and I absolutely loved it. Circumstances changed a few years ago and I had to re-evaluate my work life balance. I was introduced to this profession and I have never looked back. I have definitely found my calling.
I live with my husband who is as fun loving as me. We love to travel and I have been very lucky to visit wonderful places all over the world with him. I have a gorgeous son who is grown up and has followed my footsteps in working at the same school as I did. Both myself and my husband have an extreme fondness for music, we like to attend music festivals and see live bands. We even DJ’d and held Karaoke nights for a while.

We would love to book a ceremony with you, how do we do that?
There are a few ways that you can contact me. You can complete the contact form on the website, alternatively you can phone or email me. We will have an informal chat and then arrange a meeting in person or by Skype or Zoom to discuss your preferences and requirement.
How would we secure the date with you?
After our initial chat, I will email you a booking form and supporting documentation within 24 hours. When you have signed the paperwork, return them back to me and I will then pencil in your date for 10 days. The amount of the deposit to be paid depends on the ceremony that has been booked. Once received this will be the Professional agreement between us. To secure and guarantee your booking, you will need to pay a non refundable deposit using the bank details at the end of the booking form within those 10 days. The remainder of the fee is to be paid 8 weeks before the wedding.
Sounds great, tell us what can we have in our ceremony?
Absolutely anything you want. I have a great resource of poems, readings, songs and different lyrics that you can choose from. I do like to write my own poems and one of the supporting documents I will send you, will be a questionnaire all about the two of you. The information that you provide will be my inspiration.
What can we write ourselves?
The most beautiful versions of vows that I have heard and read have been the ones written by the couples. If you are able to do that, I would recommend it as you will remember them forever. If not, I will write the vows for you, again being inspired by your love story.
Are we allowed to have any religious or spiritual connotations in our ceremony?
Of course you can. The wonderful thing about having a celebrant-led ceremony is that you can have a balance of different religious, spiritual or secular content included in the ceremony. It may even be certain religious music that you both like or readings and traditions that you would like to uphold. This will be the kind of thing that we will work on together so that whatever you choose is right for both of you.
We have heard of different rituals such as hand - fasting and jumping the broom. Can they be included in our ceremony?
Yes, they can and there are many more beautiful rituals that can be also included that your family will be able to be a part of. I have a lot of information and resources that I will send to you once the deposit has been made. These are part of my resources that I can share with you.
What is the difference between a Celebrant and a Registrar and do they carry the same legalities?
A registrar is employed by the local authority and they have the authority to conduct legally binding marriages and civil partnership ceremonies. Celebrants are self employed and conduct non-legally binding ceremonies. In England and Wales a celebrant led ceremony is not a legal marriage. However, most couples seperate the legal part by getting married in a Registry office a few days before and then they can have the freedom of having the celebration ceremony exactly as they would like.
The most significant difference is that with a celebrant led ceremony, you will be receiving a ceremony that is so personal to you both. No-one else will ever have the same as you as there are no-one else that are like the both of you. This is achieved by getting to know you and working closely with you on the script and contents of the ceremony. A registrar will have a standard ceremony script and you probably won’t meet them until the actual day itself.
Will all our information provided be kept confidential?
Definitely. Your privacy is of utmost importance to me and you will be treated with the highest of respect. Treat others as you would want to be treated is my policy. Photographs, testimonials and other information will only be shared on my website and social media platforms with your written permission.
Do you have a privacy and GDPR policy?
Most definitely and these can be seen on my website FunLovingCeremonies.com. I would love to keep in touch with you and to comply with the new GDPR regulations, I will ask you to complete a GDPR form to confirm that Fun Loving Ceremonies can communicate with you and hold your contact details on file. I will include this form with the booking information.
What happens if something goes wrong, are you insured?
Yes I am. My insurance is with the Association of Independent Celebrants (AOIC). I am covered up to £5m public liability insurance and £1m professional indemnity insurance.
What if we have to cancel?
You have the right to cancel the contract within 14 days of entering the contract with myself. You can see the full terms and conditions of cancellation in the form that will be sent together with the booking form.

I am based in Cardiff, Wales but I do tend to travel all over the UK. I do not charge petrol for the first 50 miles and then a charge of 0.45p per mile is added. If your wedding location is much further afield then we can discuss this when we have our initial chat.
